About Us

Aims and Objectives:

  • To uphold the standards of Exeter’s Welsh Society and continue to offer a welcoming and safe environment for all.
  •  To grow as a society by becoming more members led, offering more choice to members regarding socials, stash and where their money is spent.
  • To create ‘families’  to enhance the inclusion between members and to increase the safety of our members to and from socials.
  • Continue to work hard to secure the place of Exeter’s Welsh Society as the biggest in a non-Welsh University.

Welcome to the University of Exeter Welsh Society!

Croeso i Gymdeithas Gymraeg Prifysgol Caerwysg!

As you may have noticed, there's a lot of Welsh students in Exeter. We're proud of our roots, and we're proud of our Welsh Society: your go-to group for all things Welsh, be it banter, sport (rugby of course!), great nights out, meeting fellow Welshies and most importantly having a bloody good time.

We are already the biggest Welsh Society at any non-Welsh university, but we're still growing. Last year was a difficult time for everyone at university but our amazing 2020-21 committee were amazing and made sure the year was as much fun as possible.

This year we want to bring back Welsh Soc to its true and original glory starting with our traditional freshers social, then the excitement of watching the Autumn internationals and Six Nations; its highlight of course being the Wales vs England game (which attracted a massive 500+ crowd). We will also be introducing families within our society whereby prior to socials you will meet with other members that are attending that social, this also ensures that there is safety to and from socials. Socials, both wild and tame have proved very successful over the last few years with events such as the Gavin and Stacey social and our end of year boat party inviting members to release their inner welshness, whatever that might be. From fortnightly socials to our infamous tour in which last year we took 70 students to Dublin!

Ideas for socials you may like are always welcomed by the team.
