About Us

Aims and Objectives:

  1. To uphold the standards of Exeter’s Welsh Society and continue to offer a welcoming and safe environment for all.
  2. To grow as a society by becoming more members led, offering more choice to members regarding socials, stash and where their money is spent.
  3. Continue to work hard to secure the place of Exeter’s Welsh Society as the biggest in a non-Welsh University.
Welcome to the University of Exeter Welsh Society!
Croeso i Gymdeithas Gymraeg Prifysgol Caerwysg!

As you may have noticed, there's a lot of Welsh students in Exeter. We're proud of our roots, and we're proud of our Welsh Society: your go-to group for all things Welsh, be it banter, sport (rugby of course!), great nights out, meeting fellow Welshies and most importantly having a bloody good time.

We are already the biggest Welsh Society at any non-Welsh university, but we're still growing. 2019-20 is going to be our biggest year ever, from our traditional red t-shirt social to the excitement of the Six Nations; its highlight of course being the Wales vs England game which attracted a massive 500+ crowd last year. We will also hold new events such as a coffee shop meet-and-greet and a brand new careers event aimed at students hoping to work in Wales. Socials, both wild and tame have proved very successful over the last year with events such as the Gavin and Stacey social and our end of year boat party inviting members to release their inner welshness, whatever that might be. We're planning fortnightly socials suited to all, and of course, our infamous and hugely in-demand Edinburgh tour to coincide with the Six Nations in March, with last years Dublin trip consisting of 72 students, 1 double decker, 1 ferry and a whole lot of banter.

Ideas for socials you may like are always welcomed by the team.

Your WelshSoc reps this year are:-

President - Elis Morgan
Vice President - Daniel Williams
Treasurer - Ben Evans
Social sec - Ben Machon
Social Sec - Catrin Peris Owens
General Sec - Nia Workman
Tour Sec - Izzy Grove
Sports Sec - Nia McLennan

So whether you're so Welsh you sing Hen Wlad fy Nhadau before bed every night, have a Welsh family member, or even if your hair makes you look a bit like Gareth Bale, you are warmly invited to join the friendliest society on campus, where the emphasis is always on having fun!
