Exeter University Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Orchestra
EUSO and EUSWO are Exeter University’s symphony orchestras, both professionally conducted by Tim Pithers and under the supervision of our student committee.
EUSO is a full-scale symphony orchestra that rehearses every Tuesday during term time 7-9pm, and EUSWO is the university’s newest ensemble, a ‘project-led’ wind orchestra that hold three more intensive rehearsals each term.
Under normal circumstances, we perform three joint concerts throughout the year, with recent repertoire including the likes of Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2 and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite with the Symphony Orchestra, and Nigel Hess’s East Coast Pictures and Guy Woolfenden’s Illyrian Dances with the Wind Orchestra.
If you’re interested in joining, we welcome both students and associate members from the community.
We’re a friendly and welcoming society, keen to get more involved with the local community and to nourish and encourage classical musicians within the university.
