Iran is a beautiful country which is rich in history and culture. There are many native ethnicities (such as Persian, Azeri, Kurdish, Lur, Baluch, Arab, Gilaki, Mazandarani, Armenian etc) in Iran with their own cultures, languages, religions and distinct cuisines bound together by an overlying Iranian culture. We will provide a warm and open society to introduce all of Iran’s cultures and languages to the University of Exeter campus. There will be social gatherings, talks and teaches for those interested in this fascinating culture. We will be organising events for culturally significant celebrations such as Nowruz and there will be talks and teaches about all aspects of this country with a focus on history, languages and culture including the world-famous literature and poetry by the likes of Rumi and Hafez, the mythology, cinema and incredibly varied and diverse cuisine.
