Aims and Objectives:
Welcome one and all to the University of Exeter's Classics Society!
We are a society dedicated to providing a means through which Classics students and anyone interested in Classics can meet up, socialise and participate in events both closely or loosely related to Classics.
The last few years have been particularly successful - and we hope to continue this streak in 2020/21! Highlights to look forward to this year will include a wide range of social events such as the Centurion challenge, the Gods and Mortals toga social, the trip abroad this coming year to Sicily, and of course our bi-annual balls.
Aside from socials, the Society has an active sports department, fielding very successful netball, rounders, football and touch rugby teams. Our netball team boasts particularly spectacular accolades having topped the first league last year!
We also work with the University Classics Department to provide academic support to our members: this has manifested itself in our Student Tutor Scheme, where Level III + language students offer to tutor other students in either Latin or Greek. Our successful Parent Scheme is also operating again this year, which welcomes incoming Freshers into families of current Classics Society members - be sure to join the scheme to get to know your course mates and current members better!
