Aims and Objectives:
Exeter University Choral Society
- Create an inclusive and welcoming environment in which to make music together
- Improve members' musical ability, both in terms of vocals and theory
- Encourage greater interaction between the different members of society, from our student body to those living in and around Exeter
Exeter University Choral Society is the largest un-auditioned classical choir on campus. We are a welcoming mixture of students and associate members (including alumni, staff and members of the community) who meet to perform an eclectic mix of choral works!
Recent performances have included Handel's Messiah, Puccini’s Messa Di Gloria, Verdi's Anvil Chorus, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Brahms’ Requiem, and Bach's Mass in B Minor. At our most recent event, we performed Mozart's Requiem and Sparrow Mass, accompanied by EUCO!
Whilst we are unable to sing together in person we have been running weekly virtual choir sessions to work towards some well received remote recordings. So far we have recorded, "For the Fallen" (Douglas Guest) and "In Flanders Fields" (Words by John McCrae, Music by Greg Gilpin) for Remembrance and Carol of the Bells (Music by M. Leontovich, arranged by Peter J. Wilhousky) and Star Carol (John Rutter) for Christmas and we have lots more planned for term 2!
During term time we will be rehearsing every Monday from 19.15 - 20.30 on zoom . To join the session just click on the event for the relevant rehearsal.
When we’re not singing, we’re hosting a boastful range of socials, including (but in no way limited to): rock climbing, meals out, movie nights, board gaming, picnics, trips to the Northcott Theatre, and trips to Dartmoor! When in person socials are not possible we enjoy a veriety of online socials from games nights to movie nights.
We welcome everyone - students, staff and community members - at ANY level, whether you only practice in the shower/car, or you’re practically a virtuoso! To join, or for more information, feel free to contact the Committee via Facebook Messenger, or at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the committee on email@example.com, or message us via our Facebook page.
