UoE Choral Society is one of the biggest societies in ExTunes and is the largest un-auditioned choir on campus. We are a welcoming mixture of students and associate members (including alumni, staff and members of the community) who meet to perform various choral works, ranging from Beethoven to Bernstein.
Recent performances have included Brahm's Requiem, Bach's Mass in B Minor, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Little Organ Mass, Verdi's Requiem, Beethoven's Mass in C Major, Karl Jenkins' "The Armed Man" and Fauré's Requiem. At our most recent concert, we performed an array of ancient and modern folk songs as a choir and as soloists/ensembles, featuring John Bodiley's arrangement of Three Somerset Folk Songs (The Sheep-Shearing, I Will Give My Love An Apple, and Blow Away The Morning Dew), and "Early One Morning".
Our performance of Karl Jenkins' "The Armed Man" in Exeter Cathedral earned us the invitation from Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) to take part in the United States premiere performance of Karl Jenkins' "The Healer" at Carnegie Hall in January 2015.
Our concert this Autumn term is to be decided.
We rehearse every Monday from 19:30 to 21:15 at Kay House Duryard, Streatham Campus (EX4 4RG), and you can frequently find us at The Imperial afterwards!
Our first rehearsal this year is 18th September in Freshers week and we have more freshers social events lined up too! If you're seeing this after Freshers week, still feel free to come along to any rehearsal! We're extremely welcoming and we accept new members throughout the year.
We welcome everyone - students, staff and community members - at any level.
To join, please either:
