Aims and Objectives:
Exeter University Choral Society
- Create an inclusive and welcoming environment in which to make music together
- Improve members' musical ability, both in terms of vocals and theory
- Encourage greater interaction between the different members of society, from out student body to those living in and around Exeter
Exeter University Choral Society is the largest un-auditioned classical choir on campus. We are a welcoming mixture of students and associate members (including alumni, staff and members of the community) who meet to perform an eclectic mix of choral works, ranging from Mozart and Beetoven to more modern pieces!
Recent performances have included Handel's Messiah, Puccini’s Messa Di Gloria, Verdi's Anvil Chorus, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Brahms’ Requiem, Bach's Mass in B Minor, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Little Organ Mass, Verdi's Requiem, and selected works from 'Les Miserables'. At our most recent event, we hosted a workshop featuring the brilliant John Rutter, learning and performing works from 'Sacred Choruses' .
Our performance of Karl Jenkins' "The Armed Man" in Exeter Cathedral earned us the invitation from Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) to take part in the United States premiere performance of Karl Jenkins' "The Healer" at Carnegie Hall in January 2015.
We rehearse every Monday from 7.15-9.15pm in Streatham Court A on Streatham Campus, and you can absolutely find us at The Imperial afterwards!
When we’re not singing, we’re hosting a boastful range of socials, including (but in no way limited to): rock climbing, cycling, club nights, board gaming, salsa nights, picnics, trips to the Northcott Theatre, and trips to Dartmoor!
We welcome everyone - students, staff and community members - at ANY level, whether you only practice in the shower/car, or you’re practically a virtuoso! To join, or for more information, feel free to contact the Committee via Messenger, or at firstname.lastname@example.org
To join, please come along to a rehearsal to meet everyone/sing with us, then either pay us in cash at our next rehearsal, or sign up online using the link above! Please note: you will also need to purchase an ExTunes music card to be a part of any music societies on campus: https://www.exeterguild.org/extunes/membership/
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the committee on email@example.com, or message our Facebook page.
