The Catholic Society here at the University of Exeter is an inclusive, friendly environment, where students can grow in faith while having fun and making new friends. Whether you're a lifelong Catholic, or you're seeking to discover your faith, our door is always open to new members.
Throughout the year, we'll be putting on lots of events for you to get involved with, so if regular socials (from a trip to the coast to a chilled night in watching a film), talks, charity fundraisers, and faith discussions - all with a great bunch of people - sound right up your street, then the CathSoc is for you! Oh, and just in case you fancy a casual drink with some CathSoc friends during a social, or after Sunday Mass, we've got you covered; where we're based - in the Catholic Chaplaincy at Boniface House (between Birks Grange and Duryard) - there's a fully-licensed and very student-budget friendly bar!
We work closely with the Catholic Chaplaincy, led by Fr. Michael, the Catholic University Chaplain, to ensure that the needs of all of our members are being met. Fr. Michael and our Assistant Chaplain, Donna, help to organise faith-related projects throughout the year, so that everyone has the chance to grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith, and how it relates to and interacts with our lives as students and young adults.
Every Sunday at 11:30am, Mass is held at the Chaplaincy, followed by a free lunch for all. During the year, you'll get the chance to roll your sleeves up and help out with the cooking, which is a great way of getting to know other members (and you'll be able to ring home and show off your skills as a chef - result!).
Please do check out our Facebook page and Instagram, where there'll be details of our full weekly schedule, and where we'll be giving you regular updates and information about the society and what's going on!
Everyone is welcome at the CathSoc, so if you'd like to join, your £8 will be money well spent; it will go towards supporting the upkeep of the society, including accommodating speakers and putting on fantastic socials.
We're really looking forward to meeting you this year; the Chaplaincy is a place of joy, so please come and see what it's all about.
