About Us

Beats and Bass is Exeter University’s premier dance music society and club night. We offer our members the chance to take part in the world of UK dance music in every way possible - from attending the club nights, to DJing at our workshops, events and socials, to attending our trips to Bristol, Love Saves The Day and Bugged Out Weekender, to our radio show on XpressionFM, to music production… - you can get involved at any level.

You will enjoy music from our talented resident DJ’s at our monthly parties, where we regularly showcase the biggest names in Bass music, Techno, Garage, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, Disco, House and the places in between. Our residents play a range of music from the above genres; anything that is exciting club music.

If you are a student at Exeter University and you like dance music, we are what you are looking for; on top of getting down and dirty at our club nights, you will be able to join us on our trips up to Bristol and various festivals for the very best in the UK’s underground club scene, and you can learn or practice your own skills on our top-of-the-range equipment in our dedicated, sound-proofed room in Kay House – where we will be happy to offer relaxed coaching and tips in both DJing and music production. There are also plenty of opportunities to showcase your DJing skills at our socials and maybe even our club nights. We will also feed you music news and our current top tunes through our Facebook page and blog, and you will get up-to-date mixes from our top-class resident DJ’s.

We thrive off people getting involved and will welcome anyone who wishes to do so with open arms – so, if you are a DJ, please send us a mixtape; and if you are a producer, please send us some tunes!

Since the society’s creation in 2005 Beats and Bass has had the privilege of showcasing some of the finest headliners from the UK’s cutting edge dance music scene. The society has continued to grow both in member numbers and popularity through the years, evolving with the ever-changing dance music scene of the UK.

Dance music is about every type of person coming together to enjoy a shared experience. So, welcome home.
