About Us

Aims and Objectives:

  1. Raise awareness of the work of Amnesty International on campus
  2. Help students get involved with making a difference to Human Rights, on campus, in Exeter and across the world.
  3. Be a fun society, fostering friendships between like-minded students and be a welcoming community that is both fun and effective extra-curricular activity.

Who are Amnesty International?

Amnesty International is a movement of ordinary people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. At Exeter University Amnesty International Society you can learn how to make a difference and meet like-minded people passionate about defending human rights.

Get Involved

As a society at Exeter and part of Amnesty International UK we want to make a change. We do this by running all sorts of different events, and we'd love you to get involved!

  • Join - Membership is £5 for the year. As a member you'll be able to attend the student conference, stand in any elections, and receive those all important weekly emails! You can join online or at the Fresher's Fair.
  • Weekly Meetings - Wednesdays at 1pm. Here we meet up to discuss current issues and plan our campaigns.
  • Campaigns - Our campaigns involve events such as protests, info stalls, petitioning, vigils, and more! Take a look at our facebook page to keep up to date and join in with our campaigns each term.
  • Student Conference - Autumn 2018. Every year we can send up to 8 people from the society to Amnesty UK's Student Conference in London. It's a chance to hear from Amnesty's campaign experts, attend workshops, creative spaces and discussions, and get to know other members of the society a bit better! You'll be able to apply at the beginning of term 1, so keep checking your emails for updates.
  • Letter writing - We run events during term to enable ordinary people to make a difference by writing letters to people in power to demand change, and to support individuals around the world who are denied justice.
  • Socials - Keep your eyes peeled on our social media accounts and in our weekly emails to see our upcoming events and socials such as pub crawl, Cheesy Tuedays, bowling,  & pub quiz.
