SHOTGUN THEATRE is Exeter University’s boldest musical theatre society. We seek to create innovative and dynamic productions through our approach, interpretation and direction. We are also committed to providing opportunities for both performance and production, while following an inclusive ethos.
Aside from at least three annual musicals, members now have the opportunity to write, direct and produce their own original productions, in partnership with Theatre with Teeth. We also partner with Exeter's Footlights to write and rehearse a musical in 48 hours every year. Being the only musical theatre society on campus to also have social memberships, we host several socials every term, including our popular open mic cabaret evenings, which provide the opportunity for anyone to perform or simply come and watch.
In 2014, Shotgun Theatre’s production of Spring Awakening won multiple awards at the National Student Drama Festival including the Cameron Mackintosh Award for Best Musical, Best Newcomer Director (Geneveive Skehan), and judge's commendation for Best Actor (Hannah Bloom).
