Aims and Objectives:
- To provide an environment in which players can challenge their musical abilities with a diverse jazz repertoire
- To ensure balance of sound is correct by auditioning members in order to achieve a 25-piece jazz band (with deps in case of absence)
- To perform in front of members of the community, both student and otherwise at least once a month in term time
- To provide the opportunity to improve in different areas in the Anything Goes Funk Band, available to all members
EUJO is the University's only fully auditioned Jazz and Funk society.
Consisting of three primary ensembles, The Big Band, The Anything Goes Funk Band and the Small band, EUJO plays a wide variety of professional gigs. In the past these have included both University related events - such as Society Balls, Conferences and Graduation ceremonies - and Private functions outside of University, such as Weddings, Drinks receptions, Public functions and local music festivals.
How to join
If you have any experience playing Jazz, Funk or Blues or just are interested in the music and fancy trying your hand at it, please come along and sign-up for one of our auditions in September. Neither age or standard is a bar to auditioning, all you need is passion, dedication and a smile!
