BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) society is a new society aiming to promote the inclusivity and the well-being of minority students. While cultural societies exist, BIPOC students new to the university often feel a culture shock and a lack of a platform to discuss issues they may face as people from ethnic minorities.
This society will take a grass-roots approach to providing a space for students to feel welcome on a campus that is often very different to home. Emphasizing well-being and providing a safe-space for BIPOC students, we will be furthering dialogue on topics relating to the BIPOC experience, through education, activities and socials. We welcome students of all backgrounds who share our concerns regarding diversity and prejudice, and what we can do to combat its implications on the student body.
