About Us

Aims and Objectives:

  1. Introduce medical students to a new environment of practising medicine.
  2. Share knowledge and skills to provide care in challenging environments through lectures and workshops from professionals.
  3. Provide trips to the outdoors for students.
  4. Set up a team for the Wild Trials 2019 and provide training.

Welcome to the Exeter Wilderness Medicine Society!

Whether you want to come to lectures from air ambulance medics, British Army doctors, Antarctic Physicians or Everest summiteers - Or you prefer joining us on Dartmoor for a wilderness first aid workshop, there is something for everyone!

This year we are looking forward to the medicine in challenging environments weekend and many other exciting endeavours.


  • Wild trial event
  • Search rescue events on Dartmoor
  • Lecture on pre hospital/emergency medicine
  • Weekends away (maybe even some surfing)
  • Trip to wales with the Plymouth society.
  • Good medicine in challenging environments weekend (GMICE)
