About Us

Aims and Objectives:

  1. Enable more students to get involved with research
  2. Teach important transferable research skills such as basic statistics and critical appraisal
  3. Facilitate wider INSPIRE networking with other universities in the southwest through the regional INSPIRE journal and INSPIRE events

Exeter Medical Research Society

Who we are

This year the research society is relaunching and joining forces with INSPIRE, a national Academy of Medical Sciences programme aiming to get students involved in research (https://acmedsci.ac.uk/grants-and-schemes/mentoring-and-other-schemes/INSPIRE). This means that membership is free, as are all our events and teaching sessions.

We want to get as many students involved in research as possible, and teach valuable transferable research skills.

What we do

  • INSPIRE keynote lectures once a term from leading academics
  • Journal club, developing important critical appraisal skills
  • Research skills teaching sessions tailored for the AMK
  • Intercalation support including Q&A with students who have intercalated, and support writing applications

What INSPIRE is doing this year

  • Intercalation conference with other INSPIRE universities in the southwest - Bristol, Plymouth, and Cardiff
  • INSPIRE Student Health Sciences Research Journal (https://inspirestudentjournal.wordpress.com/)

How to get involved

  • Join our society online or at Freshers fair at St Lukes
