How do I represent Placement and Study Abroad students?
Some reps are appointed to represent a Placement or Study Abroad course, such as Business and Management with International Study, Engineering with Year in Industry, or Medical Sciences with Professional Training. Since the experience of these students will be different from those studying at Exeter for their full course duration, it is important to collect any feedback specific to their time away from Exeter. Even if there is not a separate Placement or Study Abroad rep, the input from these students is vital.
Who do I represent?
Most Placement and Study Abroad reps will represent both those students who are currently on their placement away from Exeter, and those that have returned from being away in the previous year. This ensures their feedback can be collected at any time. Students who have not yet gone away on their placement are represented by their Year Reps.
If there is not a separate Placement or Study Abroad rep, then both the students who are away and those who have returned will be represented by their Third Year Rep.
How do I collect their feedback?
We can set up mailing lists in Message Centre to contact students who are away on placements. If your council message centre does not have one, please do talk to us to get one set up. You may also wish to set up social media groups for placement students, or these groups may already exist.
We highly recommend WhatsApp for these students to keep in touch with you and each other, and this is somthing that should be put in place before they go on their placement or year abroad.
