Induction Training sessions for Academic Reps, Subject Chairs, and College Officers will begin on Friday 5 October. These sessions are mandatory, both for all newly elected reps, and any current reps who were unable to attend training last year.
You can find the schedule of training sessions on our Academic Representation Resources Page. This document will be updated over the course of the week as more training sessions are organised, so be sure to check it regularly.
You will be able to sign up for training through links we will be sending via email. Once these links have been distributed, please encourage your fellow representatives to sign up and attend, if they have not done so already.
If you have already attended an Academic Representation Induction Training Session during Term 2 of the 2017/18 Academic year, you do not have to attend these sessions.
We will be working on providing additional training and skills development opportunities over the course of the year, and will update the resources page as these sessions become available. The first of these opportunities will be the Academic Representation Leadership Conference on October 20, starting at 13:30 in the Forum. This event is free, and open to all Academic Reps, Subject Chairs, and College Officers. To find out more, follow this link to the event page.
Over the course of the next few weeks, you will need to start thinking about upcoming SSLC meetings. Be sure to start working on collecting feedback from the students you represent to ensure that you are prepared and confident, and check your inbox regularly for an invitation to the meeting. For guidance on how to collect and present feedback effectively, or additional information on meetings, be sure to check the ‘Getting Started’, ‘ABCD’s of Feedback’ and ‘SSLC Meetings’ sections of the Academic Rep Handbook on our resources page.
