Find out what our most popular events have been this term, and what we've got coming up in term 2.
The Give it a Go scheme that we've been running this term has been hugely popular, with many of our events selling out. Give it a Go was created to encourage students to try new things in their community and local area. Some of our events have been on campus, whilst some have involved collaborating with companies in the local area. Our aim is also to make exploring the local area more accessible as some places are only easily accessible by car and we understand many of you do not have cars with you at university.
Two of our most popular events this term has been Tar Barrels and Llama walking. Tar Barrels is an event run by the local community in Ottery St Mary, where people run through the streets holding flaming Tar Barrels. This exciting event is a favourite of our students, however, if you do not have a car, getting to Tar Barrels can actually be quite hard- this is why we organise coaches as part of Give it a Go.
Llama walking was extremely popular last weekend with all tickets selling out. Students walked through the scenic views of Dartmoor, whilst walking with a group of llamas. Polo the Llama definitely took charge, ensuring he was always at the front of the group.
We also have had events throughout the term such as pottery painting, gin tasting and candle making.
If you missed out on these events, don’t worry as we have more events running throughout the term. Here is a calendar of upcoming events:
Monday 29 November: Gingerbread Decorating on St. Luke’s Campus
Tuesday 30 November: Gingerbread Decorating on Streatham Campus
Wednesday 8 December- Visit to Exeter Christmas Market
Use FIXR to book a place on these events.
We are also running Refreshers week in January. If you have been debating about whether you should join a society this term, or you wished you had signed up to a particular society, Refreshers will be a great opportunity for you to find out more about societies. There will be a society fair that you will be able to attend, with many different taster events throughout the week.
Don't miss this opportunity to find out more about the experiences available to you!
