This role is almost impossible to sum up because you do something different every day, but that’s what I absolutely love about working for the Students’ Guild.
Within my remit I help facilitate employability opportunities, encourage engagement in the democracy and governance of the Guild and represent the nearly 300 societies we have here at Exeter...so plenty to keep me busy!
The opportunities this job provides are truly endless – some of the things I’ve worked on so far include a volunteer logging system, sexual harassment training for society committee’s as well as planning Refreshers’ Week.
This is the most challenging yet rewarding job that gives you the opportunity to represent 20,000 students and lead the direction of a multimillion-pound organisation. You have the ability to directly influence the student experience and make impactful change.
If you’re planning on running, I wish you the best of luck! Make sure you are as informed as possible whilst developing your manifesto – talk to students, ask to shadow the officer whose role you want to run for and put your efforts into what you’re truly passionate about.
