Pete’s Dragons, one of the fundraising charities chosen by students for 2018/19, has been donated £1,443 by the University’s Market Place. Since November, customers have been voting with counters to decide whether they thought Pete’s Dragons, YMCA Exeter or Beat should receive the donation, raised through the sale of 5p carrier bags.
Pete’s Dragons help people living through the suicide of a loved one. They will experience shock, trauma, distress often coupled with shame, guilt and stigma which can leave them isolated as they struggle to come to terms with the experience of losing a loved one in this way. Pete’s Dragons provide a bespoke service to anyone in Devon who has been affected in this way. It is so wonderful that Exeter students have voted to support this charity, £1,443 will go a long way to help them.
We would like to thank Market Place and the University for supporting the Students’ Guild’s charities for 2018/19!
