Nominations are now open!

Could you be one of our next Full-Time Officers?

Have you considered being part of the team that leads your Students’ Guild? Head over to the Candidate Hub to find out more about why you should nominate yourself today! Nominations opened on 7 February and will close on 28 February.

Our Full-Time Officers play such an important part in shaping the student experience, and are the voice that represents the student body. Being an Officer requires dedication and passion, but it is such a rewarding job, where you get to see all your hard work put into action. You get to really make a difference to students’ lives and at the same time you will learn so much about yourself.

If you can’t wait to enter the working world, but at the same time don’t want to leave your student life completely behind, this is the role for you! Being a Full-Time Officer will allow you to stay very much involved in the student experience, as this is important when representing the voices of students to the University. It will also give you some excellent skills including leadership, project management, resilience, critical thinking and loads more. Your time in the role will give you so many real-life examples of these skills, giving you the edge over other candidates at future job interviews.

If you are passionate about shaping the student experience, definitely put yourself forward as a candidate. One of our 2020-21 Guild officers encourages you to go for it, saying “I was so close to not running because I thought I wasn’t good enough or thought I wouldn’t get elected. But I was an officer for 2 years, and it was an incredible experience!” (Liv Harvey, VP Activities 2019-2021). Liv went onto secure a place on the highly competitive Mars Leadership graduate programme.

Win or lose, the entire Elections experience is unique, and you will have the best time campaigning, gaining so many valuable skills, that will help you with your career in the future. So, take a chance today and nominate yourself!

We have some key events coming up, which will help you learn more about the role of a Guild Officer. We hope to see you there!

On 9 February from 12:00-14:00 in the Forum, we will be having our first Spill the Tea: Election's event, where you will be able to come and chat to your Officers and AU president about what it is like to be an officer. You can ask them any question about their role and their experience. You can also use this opportunity to ask them about what it is like being a candidate in the leadership elections! We also have a Spill the Tea event at St Luke’s in G48 on 11 February from 12:00-14:00.

You can see the full list of events here.

Good luck with your elections journey and we can't wait to see who our candidates are!
