From the incredible worldwide hitchhiking event Jailbreak, to the comeback of RAG’s Fashion show and Take Me Out, Exeter RAG – the biggest fundraising student group in Exeter - have had a fantastic and successful year fundraising for their nominated and campaigns charities.
Both Pete’s Dragons and Nightstop Devon have received an amazing, £10,943.83 each, contributing to the incredible and vital work they do locally. Exeter RAG have thoroughly enjoyed working with these local charities and they have been a great support to their fundraising efforts.
Pete’s Dragons, help people living through the suicide of a loved one, offering bereavement support services including counselling, financial support and grief recovery courses. They also provide training courses to members of the public with the aim of creating a “suicide-safe” community. Just £100 will cover four visits to a family to give them practical advice and a listening ear, with £450 granting a family of up to 9 people staying in their seaside holiday home for a week for a much-needed respite.
Nightstop Devon is a service provided by Julian House offering same day emergency overnight accommodation for young homeless people between the ages of 16-25, in the homes of volunteer hosts who have been trained and vetted. They also deliver a series of workshops for young people to help them become ‘Renting Ready’ to encourage and support independent and sustainable living. Just £35 will provide a night’s accommodation for a homeless young person and £1000 of this money will fund a staff member to become an accredited Crisis ‘Renting Ready’ Trainer.
Congratulations to the Exeter RAG committee for this incredible achievement and we can’t wait to find out your Campaigns and Challenges totals soon!
