On Saturday 20 July 2019, thousands of our incredible, newly graduated students donned their finest glad rags for what was for many their final night out in the place they have called home for the past few years – and what a night it was!
Graduation Ball is one of the biggest university traditions, giving graduates the ultimate chance to let their hair down and celebrate their huge achievements during their time at University, in the familiar grounds of our beautiful, Streatham campus. With fairground rides, DJs, bars, silent disco and much more, this year’s Grad Ball had plenty to suit a huge variety of tastes.
Liv Harvey, VP Activities Officer and recent graduate said “The Students’ Guild hosted the perfect occasion to end our time at University. From paying a visit to the silent disco, to grabbing some candy floss on the way to the Ferris wheel; Graduation Ball completely exceeded expectations and was a highlight of Graduation Week.”
Katie Heard, VP Welfare and Diversity, who also graduated last week, added “The ball was bitter sweet; the night was extremely fun and a lot of great memories were made, yet the saying of goodbyes brought a tear to my eye. To celebrate with all my friends in one place was the perfect end to a great university experience, just a shame the night had to come to an end.”
This special night, which was this year 007 themed and decked out to suit the occasion, has also been captured by our talented photography team and we will endeavor to upload the photos of the night as soon as possible.
Graduation week is, without a doubt, one of the proudest moments for university students, families and staff alike, and it has been wonderful to see so many beaming, robed individuals finally get the credit they deserve for the tremendous efforts they have put into their degrees. The Students’ Guild would therefore like to congratulate each and every one of its new graduates for their achievements; we are so proud of you, what you have accomplished and the new heights you will continue to reach in the future. Best wishes to you all.
