Challenge Three: Machu Picchu Trek
Ever wanted to climb Machu Picchu? Well know you can with Exeter RAG! Join us in Peru in August 2019 and trek across the high Peruvian Andes to see one of the new seven wonders of the world -the lost Inca City. By taking part in this trek you’ll be supporting the amazing work of Hope for Children, helping children to reach their full potential through education, health and empowering their families.
“I signed up the Machu Picchu trek in my first year at Exeter, I had never been to South America before and I wanted to make new friends in a unique way and that is exactly what happened. The trek itself is a challenge and can be tough at times, but it was so rewarding. The highlights for me had to be reaching the highest point of 4660m above sea level with my team and climbing to the top of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu itself is amazing and we had a guide explain the history and also had free time to wander around the ruins and see all the Alpacas . Walking for so many hours together gives you a great opportunity to get to know everyone and we had a right laugh. Fundraising for the trip was another part of the challenge, but myself and the other 25 members of my team all did it. The support from the Charity was golden and my challenge leaders were ace. I still see both members of my team and my challenge leaders regularly two years on. I can’t recommend the Machu Picchu Trek enough, don’t let the fundraising target put you off, the support you receive from your Challenge Leaders, Charity Partner and Exeter RAG is second to none and if you want to get to Machu Picchu you can. i wish I could go to Peru again.”
Halle Fowler, RAG President 2018-19
Fundraising Target: £2350-£3140
