We are sad to announce that Josip Martincic, Vice President Postgraduate 2020/21, will be stepping down from the role on 30 September 2020. Josip has been successful in a once-in-a-lifetime scholarship opportunity and after careful considerations and discussions with the Guild, he has decided that he cannot forgo this opportunity. Josip has been an active member of our community since his arrival in Exeter in 2018, being the first part-time VP Postgraduate, a valued member of our Reception team and an engaging Full-Time Officer in his short time with us. We wish Josip all the very best with his PhD!
“This has been a difficult decision to have to make and, as I am sure you will all understand, being awarded a PhD scholarship in the current funding climate is like winning a lottery and is an opportunity I have to take. I’ve looked at every possible option, but sadly I wouldn’t be able to defer the scholarship or do the role alongside it. I will still be available for any postgraduate students up till my leave date in the official role and then about in a voluntary capacity and as a student, so you haven’t seen the last of me yet!”
The Trustee Board will be reviewing the options in which it can take to ensure that our postgraduate community are both represented and championed in the year ahead. An announcement on this will be made in September. Don’t forget that there are several ways that your voice, as postgraduate students, can be heard and represented so make sure you contact one of the other Full-Time Officers, your PGR or PGT Student Reps or relevant College Officer. We’ve still got your back.
