NOTICE OF ELECTION

DETAILS OF THE POSITIONS FOR ELECTION
The following position is being elected:
DETAILS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR EACH OF THE POSITIONS FOR ELECTION
The holder of the Doctoral College Officer post will be the Student Lead Representative for Research Students, including Masters by Research, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy.
The holder of the Life and Environmental Sciences Officer post will be the Student Lead Representative for taught students in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.
All Exeter-campus registered students on research courses as defined by these constituencies will be eligible to nominate themselves (stand) and vote in the respective elections.
Registration data is held by the University of Exeter Students’ Guild as supplied by the University of Exeter and questions about registration status should go to the University of Exeter in the first instance.
PROCESS OF NOMINATION
Students who meet the eligibility criteria should follow the links given on the Guild website to stand for election. This process will be outlined in promotional material to students and also emailed to all eligible students when the nominations are open.
This nomination is run entirely online, with candidates retaining full control of all aspects of the data submitted including their personal picture and manifesto.
The manifesto and image once submitted may be used by the Guild to promote the election and to publicise the winning candidate once they are in post.
Nominations close at 16:00 on Thursday 12 November 2020.
DETAILS OF THE PLACE, DATE AND TIME OF THE CANDIDATES’ BRIEFING MEETING.
Friday 13 November. Virtual meeting in Microsoft Teams with invitations to be sent to all candidates once nominations close on 12 November 2020.
The time of this meeting will be set in advance and be available for 5 working days prior to the meeting. This will be automatically communicated to all candidates at the time they stand in the election as well as being available on the Guild website in advance.
THE RETURNING OFFICERS AND CHOSEN POINT OF CONTACT.
The Returning Officer for this election is Peter Robertson, National Union of Students (NUS) Charity Director.
The Deputy Returning Officer for this election is James Lindsay, Interim Director of Membership Services at the Students’ Guild.
The contact for elections including complaints is firstname.lastname@example.org and all correspondence should be addressed to that email account only.
ANY MANDATORY AND OPTIONAL ELECTION MATERIAL TO BE PROVIDED WITH A VALID APPLICATION.
There will be a range of promotional activity to assist candidates in campaigning online during the current ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and these will be fully communicated to each candidate when they nominate themselves in order to assist them in reaching a wide audience.
THE NOTICE OF ELECTION SHALL BE PUBLISHED ON THE GUILD WEBSITE AND IN SUCH OTHER FORM AS THE DEPUTY RETURNING OFFICER SHALL DEEM APPROPRIATE.
