Director of Finance and Resources

Salary: £42,061 - £48,054

Hours: 29 – 36.5 per week

Description:

We are seeking a Director of Finance & Resources who will provide us with leadership and strategic thinking in line with our values and will have overall responsibility for the strategic management, development and operational delivery of the University of Exeter Students’ Guild Finance and Central Support/Resources Services.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Effective financial management of the organisation and its trading subsidiary in line with the overall strategic and organisational objectives.
  • Effective strategic development and oversight of the central services (CS) departments in line with overall strategic and organisational objectives.
  • Providing timely, sound financial and management information and advice to the Trustee Board, the Chief Executive, Sabbatical Officers and other management colleagues.
  • Effective corporate risk management for the Students’ Guild, ensuring timely management of the corporate risk register, and embedding effective systems within the operations of the wider organisation.
  • Act as the leading interface between the organisation and financial and regulatory bodies ensuring compliance with appropriate disclosure and reporting requirements. This includes management of the outsourced Company Secretary contract or in house Company Secretary duties.
  • Identifying and delivering key projects to improve the level of service offered by the finance and central support services with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Leadership, management and development of the finance and central support services teams and service portfolios.

Description:

Due to a recent refocusing of the business there is a rare and very exciting opportunity to become a Catering Supervisor at the award winning University of Exeter Students’ Guild.

We are looking for highly motivated, fun loving and enthusiastic individuals with a proactive approach and solid catering experience whose main role will be to help support the operational running and supervision of the Catering outlets. Exceptional customer service skills are essential.

The successful applicants will have a working knowledge of current food safety and hygiene legislations, some previous experience of supervising a team in a busy environment and preferably hold the ‘Supervising Food Safety in Catering’ Level 3 award or equivalent. Duties will also include food preparation and cooking, assisting menu development, implementing staff training and overseeing stock management.

Please be aware that regular evening and weekend shifts will be worked during term time on a rota based system.

We are looking for a highly motivated, fun loving and enthusiastic individual with a passion for food and a proactive approach. Your main role will be to lead in the development of the menu and run the kitchen with the support of the rest of the Ram Bar Team.

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of current food safety and hygiene legislations, some previous experience of supervising a team in a busy environment and preferably hold the ‘Supervising Food Safety in Catering’ Level 3 award or equivalent. Description:

Due to a recent refocusing of the business there is a rare and very exciting opportunity to become a Bar Supervisor with the Licensed Trade Team at the University of Exeter Students’ Guild.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, fun loving and enthusiastic individual with a proactive approach and solid bar experience whose main role will be to help support the operational running of the Licensed Trade areas and act as Duty Manager in the absence of the Manager and to ensure the venues provide customers with an exceptional experience from a quality, value for money and customer service perspective.

You will be aware of key aspects of relevant legislation e.g. the current Licensing law. You will ideally have had previous supervisory experience and be able to create and maintain strong relationships with a wide variety of people.

This is a permanent position that includes evening and weekend shifts worked on a rota basis. Students’ Guild employees benefit from 6 weeks annual leave, a contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers and further benefits after satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.

Brand Coordinator

Salary: £22,191 - £24,687 p/a

Hours: 36.5 hours per week

Description:

This newly created role, sits within the Communications and Marketing unit and reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing. The Brand Coordinator is to be the brand advocate for the Students’ Guild and champion the Guild throughout the services offered at all information desks including Info Point, A&V desk and St Luke’s. The role oversees the day to day responsibilities for managing these desks, services and the systems in place.

This role will also lead on brand ambassador recruitment, training and planning for events and opportunities in which we use these staff. The Brand Coordinator is responsible for the overall look and feel of the ‘unowned’ spaces across the Guild to ensure they fit in line with the brand guidelines and will ensure that targets are met and delivered against.

Research & Insight Coordinator

Being part of the Communications & Marketing department this role will champion the student voice within the Students’ Guild activity by proving an evidence base at all levels of the organisation to respond to and act on. This will be achieved through highlighting research findings, both quantitative and qualitative, to colleagues in the Communications and Marketing department and across the wider organisation as required. This role will work collaboratively with key groups, supporting other teams and sabbatical officers in their research to drive and support organisation wide research projects, strategic planning, brand affinity & positioning.

The role will also to act as a champion of evaluation in the organisation, ensuring evaluation activity is consistent and that the learning is applied.

The department is expanding to allow it to develop into a new phase of organisational support, and this post strives to ensure we deliver our messages most effectively to our diverse membership.

The Communications and Marketing Executive will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive ever increasing levels of engagement within our membership with core services and activities run by the organisation. AcRep Co-ordinator (2 posts)

Contract: Fixed term – 12 months

Description:

The Students’ Guild are seeking two new AcRep Co-ordinators to work within our Membership Engagement team. These roles provide operational support for all aspects of Exeter’s undergraduate and postgraduate academic representation systems including the direct support of volunteer and elected student representatives, supporting student-led projects, and working with the University to improve the student academic experience.

Exeter’s award winning Academic Representation team currently support about 500 student volunteers and work in partnership with the University on a variety of academic issues. We are looking for graduates with an excellent track record of working with students to join our team. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in the organisation of representation events, and communicate the department’s activity to a variety of audiences.

One of the posts will work only on the Streatham campus, the other will work between campuses in Exeter, but mainly on the St. Luke’s campus
