Freshers Week 2021

Wellbeing

Your wellbeing is one of our top priorities at your Students’ Guild, and we want to make sure that all of our students feel safe and comfortable, so that you are able to make the most of university life.

We know that whilst university is an incredibly exciting time, with new opportunities and meeting new people, there may be times that you need help and support. There is a range of support for you both within the University, as well as with external organisations. Remember that everyone experiences university in their own way, and it can take time to get settled into uni life. If you’re struggling to adjust, know that you’re not alone and you can reach out for support.

Student Wellbeing Services

The University’s student Wellbeing Service is one of the main ways that you can access support, whether urgent or otherwise, during your time at university. Through this service, you will be able to access welfare support as a student, advice and support for your mental health, counselling services, disability support, and more.

The Wellbeing Service also provides academic provisions in light of any personal issues that you may be having. For example, you might be able to get exam adjustments, mitigation for deadlines, and an Individual Learning Plan during your studies.

Head over to their website to see all of the options available through the Wellbeing Service, as well as some welfare advice through the Wellbeing Blog page.

Our Advice Service

Another option for students seeking support during their studies is through the Advice Service at the Students’ Guild, where you can gain professional and confidential advice from one of our trained professionals on a range of issues that you might face during your studies. This might include financial concerns, academic issues, accommodation, and your welfare.

This is a free, independent service to support and empower students during their studies. Students can request support by emailing  advice@exeterguild.com.

Exeter Nightline

You can also find support through Exeter Student Nightline, which is run by trained student volunteers to provide a listening service for any issues that you might be having. Whether it is housing problems, relationship issues, or worries about your course, you are able to phone the service and talk things through in a safe and confidential space.

As this is a student society, you will also have the chance to get involved yourself if you would like to be part of providing support and giving back to the student community!

Uni Survival Guide: For Students From Students

Students at the University of Exeter have come together to produce a ‘Uni Survival Guide’ that offers information and advice for life at university during Covid-19 and beyond. This is a wonderful resource from students to benefit all students at the university, both new and returning, so that students are well-informed about a variety of facilities and support services at Exeter. Check the guide our here.

Stagecoach Night bus

You can now get a bus home from the city on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights during term time. The service will run until 04:00 the following morning on the days noted on a circular route encompassing some of the more heavily populated student streets and through campus. You can find out more about the route and the timetables using their app.
