At Elderly Connect, we volunteer with Exeter’s isolated elderly and provide them with a range of activities that change every week.
From handcrafts, games and simply having a good chat, each session is different so come along for just one or as many as you like. We regularly visit several care homes in Exeter, including Cadogan Court House and Dove Tree House.
This is a great chance to meet people in the wider community especially in such a rewarding way. This project is a great opportunity if you want to gain experience working with the elderly for a career in health and add a valuable skill to your CV. But even more than that it such a rewarding experience and a distraction from university work. Meeting such a range of people will give you a huge advantage over others for after university and to gain this through such an enjoyable project is a great bonus.
To volunteer, you will need a DBS check and you will need to attend Working with the Elderly and Vulnerable Adults training, provided by the Guild.
