South-West Model United Nations Conference

Exeter University
14/02/2020 18:00

Dear all,

Hello, and welcome to the official South-West Model United Nations (SWMUN) 2020 Conference.

This year, the University of Exeter is delighted to host the SWMUN Conference for the second time, welcoming the participants from the South-West and beyond to partake in the unique experience of problem-solving and diplomacy in Model UN. Our team worked extremely hard to bring you the most exciting conference in the South West of England.
Who says that you can’t mix business and pleasure?

With a wide range of Committees addressing the most recent worldwide political issues, and a thrilling Crisis scenario during the day, as well as a series of social events, including the black-tie dinner and a cocktail meet and great during the night, we guarantee you an unforgettable weekend with incredible nights out.

Brexit, Climate Change, Immigration and Human Rights are only some of the pressing issues on the current global political agenda, the solutions for which, are yet to be found. A rapid spread of populist movements all around the world on the one hand, and the predominantly isolationist political wave circling around Britain, Russia and the US, on the other, attests to an unprecedented geopolitical and social change of the 21st century. We hope this conference can be a platform where the leaders of tomorrow can challenge and be challenged with the real problems faced by our societies. We are confident that the resolutions presented by the committees will be innovative and comprehensive, reaffirming the importance of the role of the UN on the global political platform.

This is your mission, should you choose to accept it!

We hope you enjoy the Conference and enjoy Exeter as much as we do.

Secretary-General of SWMUN 2020,
Anastasia Filina.
