Coronavolunteering

It comes as no surprise that the COVID-19 outbreak has changed student volunteering as we know it, with all events and ESV projects not going ahead until further notice.

However, the current situation has left people in need, and where there are people who need help in one form or another, there is an opportunity for a volunteering response!

Coronavolunteering is the term we have given to the range of volunteering efforts that students can get involved with; this can include getting stuck into NHS community response volunteering or sending a Viral Kindness Card.

Coronavolunteering is also not limited to providing relief in direct response to the outbreak; we understand this can be a very overwhelming time and you may want to focus on other activities to stay occupied whilst self-isolating and social-distancing. This is why we have found a variety of ‘virtual volunteering’ opportunities to give you a chance to try something new and feel good about giving back to others.

NHS Check-In and Chat Volunteer: This role provides short-term telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a consequence of self-isolation. This is a great way to get involved with Community Response Volunteering if you are unable to drive as part of transport volunteering, or if you are also self-isolating!
