Introduction:

This Bylaw outlines all current Policy in one place. Each Policy stands on its own merits and can be struck down by democratic vote of all members, and lapsed or renewed by Guild Council each year in Handover Council; according to the date of renewal.

Policy Index:

The Policies will be kept in date order and indexed below for easy searching by student members.

Policy Method:

There is no set format for Policy – although students are free to use the normal ‘Believes, Resolves, Instructs’ common to the student Union movement, it is not a compulsory form. Nor do we advise it is used, since it often lacks direct and conclusive actions.

The most vital element of any policy is that how it is to be operationalised is made clear in any instructions or procedures part so that clear actions are established and a specific person or group of people is instructed to carry the policy out.

The services of Guild Staff (Change Manager) to assist students in drafting Policy that has active instructions are available to all Full members of the Guild as a part of the service to support policy.
