DVP Wellbeing Role Description

PURPOSE: hide

  • Advocate for, and campaign to improve, wellbeing services, whether these are provided by the University, the Students’ Guild, or external services in the local community.
  • Have a genuine interest in, and passion for, the promotion of wellbeing – both physical and mental – and to have an insight into the services available to students on and off-campus, since they are the student point-of-contact for updating the Wellbeing Information Directory (WiD).

Maintain the Wellbeing Information Directory (WiD)

Liaise with staff support at the Guild to maintain and promote the Wellbeing Information Directory.

  • Promote the Wellbeing Information Directory (WiD).
  • Work with support staff to maintain and update services on WiD.
  • Liaise with the VP Welfare and Diversity, other elected students, and student volunteers so that resources and services detailed on WiD retain a student focus.
 
Learn and teach intersectionality

Never speak on behalf of others; always raise their voices.

  • Educate yourself on intersectionality, and use intersectional praxis and your experience to teach others.
  • Do not be defensive.
  • Always amplify the voices of those at the margins; never speak over them.
 
Address emergent themes and issues in wellbeing

Tackle and campaign on non-legal issues and emergent themes in wellbeing and mental health that come up through speaking to students and Liberational Network Reps.

  • Work alongside the Wellbeing Centre and other key members of staff.
  • Give focus to wellbeing within Council and Guild meetings.
  • Communicate issues raised by any Liberation Network Reps to Liberation Council and the Sabbatical team.
