Role Description

PURPOSE: hide

  • Keeping student democracy fun and relevant: they take existing systems and modify, adapt, and replace them following democratic suggestions from students to keep our democracy developing, interesting, and engaging.
  • Above all else, DVP Games & Campaigns is about Fun – they should have a lively sense of humour, a new or even eccentric approach to democratic processes and a dislike of standard political structures and methods.
  • (2017-18) Works alongside DVP Campaigns on Games & Campaigns Council
  • (2018-19) The roles of DVP Campaigns and DVP Game Design are merged, becoming DVP Games & Campaigns.
  • (2018-19) Chairs the Games & Campaigns Council.

Monitor Student Elections

Working with staff, and the Student Elections Officer; make sure that Student Elections are kept relevant to students and as engaging as possible.

  • Work with VP Activities on developing Student Elections;
  • Work with staff on the procedures and support for Student Elections;
  • Work with the Student Elections Officer to ensure clear and consistent rules.
 
Monitor Student Ideas

Working with staff, and the Student Ideas Officer; make sure that Student Ideas is kept fun, relevant to students and as engaging as possible.

  • Work with VP Activities on developing Student Ideas;
  • Work with staff on the procedures and support for Student Ideas;
  • Work with the Student Ideas Officer to ensure clear and consistent rules.
 
Assist and oversee campaigns

Work with students and student leaders to deliver effective campaigns that produce measurable change.

  • Work with Deputy Vice Presidents and Sabbatical Officers to collaborate and coordinate campaigns.
  • Act as a conduit for the campaigning activity of Guild societies and students, providing advice and support where appropriate.
 
Engage with national campaigns

Where appropriate, familiarise yourself with the campaigning work of the National Union of Students, rolling out national campaigns on a local basis.

  • Use Student Ideas where necessary to evidence support for national campaigns
  • Collaborate with the Guild President and NUS National Conference Delegates to shape the national campaigning work of the NUS.
