Any member of the Guild will have a right to request any recorded information held. This would cover all recorded information the Guild holds and students would be able to request information that the Guild may hold. A form would be set up to request this and an answer should be received within a reasonable timeframe (thirty days). This would be an enhancement of existing provision for requests about our own data under GDPR Subject Access Requests and other legal mechanisms, such as published full accounts.
Under charity law and the Guild’s duty of care, certain information would need to be exempt from this, for example that which contains personal information or excessive numbers of requests.
A Right to Know would benefit students hugely by making the Guild more accountable and transparent.
