Ethical Exeter is campaigning for the University to invest its money more ethically, away from industries such as weapons, tobacco & fossil fuels. Last year, the group launched a petition and wrote a report, presenting both to the University Council in April 2016.
Following more discussions, the University has agreed to move £1million of its investment portfolio into ethical funds. But the work doesn’t stop there! Ethical Exeter is continuing its petition and research into ethical investment options, in order to help shape the University’s future investment policies.
This project links into wider the NUS-backed Fossil Free UK campaign, which promotes divestment from fossil fuel industries in a bid to tackle climate change. More information about the Fossil Fuel UK campaign can be found at go fossil free.
