They take care of security in halls of residence on campus and support the Residence Life Teams. Keep each other safe Exeter is a safe city with a low crime rate but it’s always sensible to let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to be back. If you’re going out, make sure your phone has charge and you have money to get yourself home. On a night out, never let friends walk home alone or walk home on your own. Make sure someone knows where you are and that you’re safe and well. #NeverOK The University and Students’ Guild are committed to educating students about consent and the importance of respecting people’s boundaries. Watch this short video to find out why making a move without consent if never OK. Personal belongings Thieves and burglars target the laptops, phones and bikes that many students bring to university. Take sensible precautions like backing up your work on a memory stick or external hard drive, security marking your property, always keeping your room locked, and consider taking out insurance to make sure your belongings can be replaced. Local police The Students’ Guild and University have a strong relationship with Devon & Cornwall Police – We even have our own beat officer PC Lugg. The police often provide helpful events to mark your property and can be contacted in non-emergencies on 101. If you see PC Lugg (or Luggy) round campus, stop him and say hello.
