Meet the team

Vics Brown – Acting Advice Manager

I love that my role enables me to support students at Exeter to ensure that you are well informed and hopefully get the best outcomes possible with whatever you are going through. I have a background in Housing, criminal justice, drugs and alcohol and working with vulnerable individuals who have experienced abuse. This links well with my role as one of the University Dignity and Respect advisors. As well as working directly with students to support and advise you I am also working on systems and actions that create a great service that meets the needs of students.

My role enables me to support students who have had the added pressure of coming from difficult and emotional situations before university and I am here to guide you through some of the financial and emotional difficulties you may encounter in your university journey.

My background is working with vulnerable families and safeguarding so I can use that experience in my role as an advisor to ensure the students are safe, supported, respected and valued.

I’ve been working in Higher Education since I graduated with a Library MA and have worked in Careers, scholarships, and behind the scenes with policy and setting up modules. Working at the Guild is very exciting because it gives me an opportunity to work directly with students and help them get the most out of their time in Exeter while developing into independent adults. I have a background in supporting queer people and set up the University’s Trans and Non-binary café. This has given me experience working on equality and diversity, bullying and harassment, coming out, and navigating the University’s records system. I also have a strong interest in issues around disability and neurodiversity.
