International Students

Funding issues for international students can be complicated, so please come and see us in the Advice Unit if you’re unsure. We also work closely with the International Student Support Advisers who give specialist information on immigration related matters such as your visa.

Special Emergency Loan Scheme (SELS)

This is an emergency loan of up to £500 available to EU students who are in financial difficulty. You can apply if you need money for an unexpected expense such as having to suddenly return to your home country.

Fund for International Student Hardship (FISH)

FISH is an emergency fund for students with international fee status, and provides a loan of up to £500. You can apply if you need money for an unexpected expense (For example, if your sponsor fails to pay your fees, or you need to suddenly return to your home country). This money has to be paid back to the University.
