Information about the Society Hardship Fund

The Students’ Guild, supported by the generous assistance of Exeter alumni, is pleased to announce the launch of the student activities hardship fund. The fund is eligible to any student self-declaring financial hardship as a barrier to their engagement with societies and student groups in the Guild.

Interested in applying?

Applying for the funding is simple. Please email stating which three societies or student groups you would like financial assistance in joining. In your email, please attach a budget that breaks down:

  • Your weekly outgoings on food, social activity, rent and bills
  • The amount of student loan you receive per term
  • Your monthly salary for any part-time work
  • Any parental contributions

This information will be kept entirely confidential and will only be used as part of the distribution process to ensure we are able to make best use of funds and support as many students as possible. Preference will be given to applications from students in receipt of widening participation support from the University, but all students are encouraged to apply.

What’s the catch?

Put simply, nothing! All we ask in return for the financial assistance is that successful applicants write a few brief sentences in June outlining whether the funds made a difference to their Exeter experience.
