Raise and Give
Raise and Give (RAG) is the largest group of student fundraisers at Exeter. From hitchhiking to Amsterdam to running the Rocksolid Race, donut eating competitions to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, hundreds of students get involved raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for our RAG Nominated and Challenge Charities.
There are loads of ways that you can get involved with the RAG Committee and support local, national and international charities. From taking on a fundraising challenge of your own, learning more about design and marketing, or organising your own fundraising events, there are lots of opportunities. Last year alone RAG raised £224,000 – can you help RAG beat it next year? Find out more here.
If you’re interested in supporting one charity in particular, then take a look at our list of fundraising societies. The Students’ Guild supports over 30 Political, Campaigning and Causes societies, with 11 charity-specific societies for you to get involved with. Whether your passion is for international relief, animal welfare or anything in between, there’s a society for you to join and support.
Each society provides specific information about their cause, as well as running workshops, information evenings, organising events and holding vigils. With so much to get involved with, you can support the charity you’re passionate about whilst honing your skills and finding out more about the third sector.
Start your Society
If you’re passionate about a specific charity or fundraising body that’s not yet a society, you may be able to start your own! All our societies are created, affiliated and run by students with the support of Guild staff, so any student is able to run a society that they’re passionate about.
If you’d like to support a charity and run your own society, please take a look at the society affiliation application, or for more information about starting your own society or working with charities as a student, feel free to contact us.
Training and Development
The Students’ Guild wants to support all students interested in charity, fundraising and the third sector. We can do this by working with you on the areas that you are most interested in. We provide training workshops on Fundraising and Charity Law, having monthly meetings of a Fundraising Forum to discuss best practice and catch up with the societies involved in fundraising.
If there is something you’re interested in, a skill you want to learn or a project you’d like to support, take a look at our list of societies, have a chat with our student staff in Activities & Volunteering, or email to find out more information.
