Another way to raise funds for your society, event or project is to set up a crowdfunder. You can use the power of the internet and social media to reach a wider number of people, including alumni of the University of Exeter, to tell them about your project and encourage people to donate to make your project happen. Many societies/groups have started using crowdfunder to help fund their activities and have been extremely successful. ?
The University has its own crowdfunding website, Hubbub, providing a platform for societies to crowdfund for their projects/events. Another way to fund your society, events or projects is through donations. You can collect donations by holding events such as bake sales, busking, or a pub quiz and raise the funds yourself to cover any costs. For more information on fundraising and donations see here.
Society Grants and Music Society Grants
Every year the Guild has £20,000 to give out across the academic year to societies and student groups for events and projects, and £10,000 to give out to music and theatre societies. This funding is allocated by Societies Council; the democratic body of elected students who represent you. There is a grant funding round each term. For more information and to apply click here.
Many societies seek sponsorship to help fund their activities for the year, or to provide extra benefits to members such as career opportunities and skills sessions. Sponsorship ranges from yearlong sponsors, to sponsorship for a particular event or project.
Before signing any agreement with a sponsor, please send over a copy of the contract/agreement to the Activities Team. This is so we can check all the details of the contract to ensure the requirements are fair and compliant. As part of this check, a member of the Activities team will sign the contract on behalf of your society. Committee members must not sign contracts, under any circumstances. We will then email this back to you to send back to the sponsor.
Once your sponsorship has been agreed, you will need to complete an invoice request form. Don’t forget to include VAT on the request form, as sponsorship is subject to VAT. Please then email this form to the Activities Team for actioning.
