GIAG on committee

I am very excited to tell you about a brand-new opportunity called 'Give it a Go: On Committee', an initiative from my manifesto which we're piloting as part of our Give it a Go programme. This is a chance for societies to collaborate with their members to run a term 3 social or event which is funded and supported by the Guild.

This will as give members a taster of what it's like to be on committee and hopefully encourage them to run for committee for next academic year!

Aims and Benefits

  • Society committees work with their members to create a ‘member-led’ event supported and funded by the Guild
  • The scheme aims to encourage a more diverse range of people to apply for committee positions and/or gives society members a ‘taster’ of what being on a committee is like
  • Society members and committees develop employability skills which they can put on their CV such as mentoring, budgeting and event planning.

  • Societies apply to join the scheme with an event proposal for Term 3 costing up to £200.
  • Successful societies will then open applications for members to be ‘Member Event Leaders’
