PostgraduateS

The University of Exeter Students' Guild represents 18,000 students; over 4,000 of whom are postgraduate students at either taught masters or research level. Whilst many of our students are undergraduate, we also try to make a difference for our postgraduates too - these pages are a brief view of what we do.

Welcome to Exeter

Every week day from 01 October: Breakfast Tea and Filter Coffee for PG Students is half price between 8am and 10am in the Kitchen Deli in Devonshire House (ground floor) - bring your UniCard as proof of PG status.

In 2012-13 the Guild achieved the following things on behalf of PGR students, working with student volunteers and elected Reps:-

  • Success for the first year of Postgraduate Liaison Forums in all Colleges,
  • Increased attendance at Induction events; leading to a massive increase in PG Society membership,
  • A separate PGR Vision For Education (is in progress),
  • PGCE Library Champion Scheme,
  • Continuation Fees reduced and payment made much sore flexible,
  • Social Justice included in Equal Opportunity Policies as suggested and enhanced by critical studies PG students,
  • St. Luke's Library hours increased at the request of PGCE students,
  • Graduate Teaching Assistants - the NUS Survey results are being acted upon by a working party.

For 2012-13 we are co-hosted four events during Fresher's and Week one of Autumn term to welcome new postgraduate students, and to re-introduce ourselves to continuing students.  The welcome theme this year was "How can Postgraduates create research communities and make networks that work?"
