JOB TITLE: Director of Finance and Resources
SALARY: £41,191 to 44,618
CONTRACT: Full time, permanent
The Students’ Guild is a successful membership driven, charitable organisation with a turnover of £5 million. We are recruiting for a dynamic Director of Finance & Resources to join the senior management team. Reporting directly into the Chief Executive this role will be varied, fast-paced and requires a diverse skill-set from a post qualified accounting professional.
Managing a busy team your key duties will include responsibility for the annual budgeting cycle, and in-year forecasting activity as well as the monthly, weekly and annual financial reporting of the charity. Whilst your role will not involve the hands on processing of this financial information on a day-to-day basis, this is partly an operational position, which requires a candidate who is hands-on and to actively be in touch with the wider operations of this fast-moving organisation. In addition you will have strategic oversight for the ongoing development of both the finance function and other Guild central services. Alongside the Guild’s wider success, the finance function in particular has encountered growth in service demand in the last two years and the successful candidate will be required to underpin the growth by building a future-proof function that is resilient and highly responsive to internal and external customer needs. This is a very visible role and will involve regular interaction with key stakeholders. The role supports the work of the three other directorates, including commercial activity.
Key responsibilities include:
Effective financial management of the organisation in line with the overall strategic and organisational objectives.
Effective strategic development and oversight of the central services departments
Effective corporate risk reporting for the Students’ Guild.
Act as the leading interface between the organisation and financial and regulatory bodies. This includes management of the outsourced Company Secretary contract.
Leadership, management and development of the finance and central support services teams and service portfolios.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a great charitable organisation within a flexible role with plenty of scope and autonomy. Candidates must be fully qualified accountants with substantial and demonstrable post qualification experience.
