Who are we?
Established in 1955, The Students’ Guild was set up to serve the interests of all students enrolled at The University of Exeter. Anyone who is a student is automatically a member of The Guild. If a member is experiencing any problems or think there is something that could be done better, then The Guild is there to listen, and work alongside students to enact changes on the issues that matter most.
As well as representation, The Guild is also there to provide events and services, ranging from concerts and catering to financial and academic advice.
Where are we?
If you are a student based on the Streatham Campus of Exeter University, then you can find most of our services in Devonshire House and the adjoining section of The Forum. This includes various food and retail outlets, The Advice Unit and The Information Point.
Just south of Streatham is St.Luke's. St. Luke's Campus houses a small, relaxed, and vibrant community of students. The campus has its own friendly traditions, from the weekly Bop student night to the annual Summer Ball weekend and the Summer Fête. The St. Luke's Information Point can give you information, help you with photocopying and locker hire, and sell tickets for the Bop.
Even further south, you can find the Cornwall Campus Tremough campus. Based in Penryn, the campus is shared jointly between the University of Exeter and University College Falmouth and is represented by a shared union called FXU. The Students' Guild provides academic representation at Tremough for Exeter students. All Exeter Cornwall students can access all the Guild services and facilities based at Streatham.
For more information about FXU, please to go their website: www.fxu.org.uk.
What do we do?
Offering students the best places on campus to eat, drink and relax is one of the many things that The Guild prides itself on.
The RAM (Devonshire House)
If you’re looking for somewhere to relax on campus then look no further - with great food, comfy chairs and affordable drinks, the Ram is the place to be. Relax outside in the beer garden or, if it’s cold or dark (or both), then there’s plenty of room inside to kick back, unwind, and de-stress after a long day of lectures.
The Lemon Grove (Cornwall House)
Great bands, top DJs and thousands of students – all come through the doors of Exeter's biggest student venue every month. Whether you're looking for a big night out, an intimate gig or just a casual social event, the Lemon Grove is there to deliver the best entertainment on campus.
The Guild Shop (Devonshire House)
From magazines and chocolate bars to stationary and Exeter University stash, the Guild shop offers a variety of products at great prices.
The Print Room (The Forum)
Need to print something? The Print Room is the only pace on campus where students can get affordable black and white and colour printing, as well as photocopying, binding, laminating and other finishing work. It can be found the Mezzanine Level of the Forum, opposite the main library entrance.
GUILD STRATEGY
We spent a great deal of 2008/09 asking everyone with a stake in the Guild about what we should be focusing on and where we should be going in the future. Having asked students, staff, the University; members of the community and considered possible changes afoot in the wider world we have completely reviewed our view of what we exist for (our mission), what we want to achieve (our vision) and the values that support us.
The Guild Strategy 2009-10 gives an overview of our strategic plan for the next three years. We believe that by responding to the challenges raised with through our consultation we will secure the future of the Students’ Guild and will ensure we are in a strong position to respond to immanent changes in higher education and students’ unions.
