What is EMSA, and what we’re trying to do…
As a constituent organisation (a sub-set of the Guild if you like) we’re not a Society – all Mature Students and Student Parents are automatically members of EMSA, there’s no fee to join: just sign up to the mailing list and you’ll hear all the news when we have updates… Or bookmark this site to keep in touch!
The objectives left for this year are to get the committee up and running (nominations for the Satellite Campus Rep is still open – apply to me if you’d like to get involved this year), and to get a social/work space set up for Mature Student use, so that when you’re on campus you have somewhere to go where you know that you’ll see and meet other Mature Students, rather than perhaps randomly encountering one in the library or only ever talking to other Mature Students on your course.
The Association formation was stage one – getting the structure right, in consultation with the Mature Students I could contact, and getting the Association added to the Constitution via a motion at the AGM; both these things are done and EMSA is now official
A little plea at this point – tell any Mature Student friends you have about EMSA, tell them about this site and get them to sign up to the mailing list.
